The Red Admiral Butterfly is a dark chocolate brown/black.They have red/orange bands and white markings on there wings.This butterfly is Britain's most well known butterfly, and very beautiful.The Red Admiral is a very common butterfly in gardens,you can also see them in hedgerows,meadows,and woodlands.The male and female Red Admiral butterfly have similar patterns on their wings, but the female is slightly larger with a wingspan of 65/75mm.They feed on nectar from plants such as the Buddleia, Lavender,the stonecrop,Michaelmas daisies,Hebe,and nettles,or you may see them on rotting fruit such as apples, plums, and pears.The Red Admiral can usually be seen between May and October.
